You Knew You Needed Guardianship. You Didn't Know It Would Be This Confusing.
Your child with a disability is turning 18. You've been told you need guardianship, but now you're looking at confusing forms, legal jargon, and a process that feels impossible to understand.
You searched online.
You downloaded court forms.
You stared at pages of legal language that felt like it was written to keep you out, not help you through.
So you called lawyers...and heard numbers from $3,000 to $6,000.
You called a document preparer, but do they know the law or how crucial this is to get right?
This isn't routine paperwork. It's your child's safety.
And you know you could do this yourself if someone could just clearly show you what goes where.
Here's what nobody tells you:
Arizona guardianship isn’t hard. But it’s confusing when no one gives you a step-by-step road map.
Until now.

Meet Rebecca Masterson
Rebecca Masterson is a Phoenix lawyer, founder of The Proper Form, and the creator of the DIY Arizona Guardianship Course.
She didn't set out to build a guardianship course. She set out to get guardianship of her own son.
When Rebecca's son approached 18, Rebecca knew they needed to file for guardianship. She figured how hard could it be - she and her son's dad were both attorneys.
But it was hard. It was frustrating. And it was, in Rebecca's words, "thoroughly unenjoyable."
They got through it. They do this for a living. But Rebecca kept thinking: if two lawyers found this process confusing, what about everyone else? Why is something so crucial so confusing?
Then friends started asking for help. Then clients. And when Rebecca looked for a resource she could point them to - a clear, simple guide to the forms and the process - she couldn't find one.
So she built it.
The DIY Arizona Guardianship Course is everything Rebecca wishes had existed when she was filing for her own son: every form in fillable format, video walkthroughs explaining what goes where and why, and a step-by-step outline of when to file, where to file, and how the whole process works.
And it comes without the lawyer price tag, because as Rebecca puts it, "the last thing we need as parents of special needs kids is another bill."
